Rashida Rifat, wife of Zafr ul Islam, held the reserved seat for women (WR-17) in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from 2013 to 2018, representing the Jamat-e-Islami party. During her tenure, she was a member of multiple standing committees, including Population Welfare, Zakat, Usher, Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, Higher Education, Archives and Libraries, Local Government, Elections and Rural Development, and Administration Departments.
