Syed Aqil Shah, son of Syed Muhammad Ayub, represented PK-4 Peshawar-IV in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial assembly from 2008 to 2013 as a member of the Awami National Party. During his tenure, he held various key portfolios, including provincial minister for sports, tourism, and culture, and president of the North-West Frontier Province Olympic Association. He also served as vice-president of the National Olympic Committee of Pakistan and represented the country at various international multi-sport events, including the Seoul Olympics, as the president of Pakistan Wrestling Federation.
