This House acknowledges its obligations to support and enact domestic legislation in the light of Pakistan’s international & regional human rights-based obligations;

It also condemns all laws and acts of injustice, discrimination and violence against girls that result from child marriages;

Furthermore, it recognizes that the constitution of Pakistan guarantees empowerment and protection of women;

Therefore, this House call upon the government and this esteemed house to repeal the Child Marriage Restraint Act 1929, to ensure harsher punishments to perpetrators to strengthen implementation systems and mechanisms to raise the age of marriage of girls to 18 years and to ensure budgetary allocation for effective implementation to end discrimination, which is in clear violation of the constitutional guarantees.
