South Waziristan Upper, part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is predominantly inhabited by the Mehsud tribe, which constitutes over 90/of the population .The current name lacks culture relevance and does not reflect the dominant identity of the region.

Therefore this house recommends renaming the district to Mehsud Tribal District to provide cultural recognition and align with the identity of the local population. This move is consistent with the renaming of other tribal district, such as Mohmand, Bajaur, and Orakzai which reflect their dominant tribes.
